Make your way to the scenic town of Tambunan for a fun adventure of visiting historical sites, sampling traditional food and chasing waterfall – all in one day!
The road leading to Tambunan goes through Penampang before starting to climb the Crocker Range about 18 kilometres outside of Kota Kinabalu. It is scattered with farming communities who plant hill rice, pineapples, bananas, mushrooms, as well as other vegetables which visitors can purchase at roadside stalls. Besides that, wild and cultivated orchids can also be found at the roadside stalls.
In this tour, you will visit the Sunsuron Village. Here, you will be able to see historical sites managed by the Sabah Museum, such as the Watu Turidong (Huge Stone) and the Bamboo House. Next, you will visit the Sinurambi Observation Tower, which offers a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of the Tambunan valley.
Afterwards, you will proceed to Kampung Solibog to visit the musical rock called, Batu Gong before enjoying a traditional lunch at Kampung Minodung or Tombotuon.
To conclude your tour, you will visit one of Tambunan’s best kept secret – the Mahua Waterfall. Here, you can spend some time to have a short swim in the cool and refreshing waterfall before having a little picnic in the afternoon.
