Penampang is a small town within the West Coast Division of Sabah. The name Penampang means ‘big rock’ in Kadazan language and the reason behind the name was that big rocks were easily found around the area a long time ago. The main town of the district is Donggongon and main attraction would be the Kadazandusun Cultural Association hall (KDCA) where major cultural festivities are held.

Sample itinerary

8.30am – Pick up from hotel and transfer to Penampang; stop by at the local village tamu along the way where guests can purchase fresh fruits from the local farmers and sample local delicacies, such as tuhau, bambangan, bosou and sinalau bakas

10.00am – Arrive at Tagal Tinopikon Park and take part in activities, such as fish-feeding, rubber tapping demo and short jungle trekking tour. Guests can also enjoy a cooling dip in the river and experience a pelian fish massage

12.30pm – Lunch at Borneo Momogun Spice

1.30pm – Visit to the Pogunon Community Museum and learn more about the history of Pogunon village. Guests can also enjoy the rustic sceneries of the Penampang village, with old wooden houses, vegetable farms and occasional water buffaloes.

2.00pm – Transfer back to Kota Kinabalu. End of service.
