Day 1
Arrival Kota Kinabalu

Upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu Airport, we will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. The hotel is located in the middle of Kota Kinabalu.

Day 2
Luxury Island beach tour with snorkelling

Enjoy a day at a quiet and private beach away from the normally crowded islands around Kota Kinabalu. You will check in at the Bunga Raya Island Resort’s Lounge at the Jesselton Point Jetty before being transferred by boat to Gaya Island for a relaxing trip in a secluded part on the Island owned by the 5-Star Bunga Raya Resort.

Go snorkelling or kayaking if you feel like frolicking in the sea. Otherwise, simply spend the day relaxing under the sun. At 4.00pm, you will be transferred back to the Jesselton Point Jetty.

Day 3
Kinabalu National Park

Take a two-hour drive through the native villages and enjoy the panoramic view of the valleys of the Crocker Range heading towards the Mount Kinabalu National Park.

Visit the Natural History Gallery for a short introduction of the park. Then, take a walk with your guide to explore the rich diversity of plant species inhabiting the montane forest. Kinabalu Park boasts more than 5,000 vascular plant species, an estimated 1,000 orchid species, 621 fern species, nine Nepenthes species, 29 Rhododendron species and two Rafflesia species.

After lunch, visit the Australian War memorial before checking in to your accommodation in Kundasang.

Day 4
Poring Hot Springs & Sabah Tea

After breakfast, continue with a visit to Poring Hot spring. Upon arrival, trek up to the 'Canopy Walkway' built 41 meters above the ground. After that, it's free and easy.

You can also take this opportunity to take a dip in one of the open-air sulfur spring bathtubs before departing to Sabah Tea for a short educational tour.

Learn about the tea making process during this plantation and tea factory visit. A little history about the World War II will also be shared as you visit Quailey Hill – a hill named after an Australian soldier who fell on this spot during the Sandakan-Ranau Death March.

Continue your journey to Sandakan by land and have an overnight stay at the Sepilok Nature Resort.

Day 5
Orangutans & Kinabatangan River

You will be picked up from the Sepilok Nature Resort in the morning for a visit to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.

Watch a short video documentary of the rehabilitation activities before taking a stroll on the boardwalk through the lowland rainforest to witness the feeding of the Orang Utan at 10.00am.

After lunch, transfer to Sandakan jetty for two-and-a-half hours boat ride to the multi award-winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge, along Sabah's longest river, the Kinabatangan River. This gives you the opportunity to go birdwatching and wildlife-spotting in the virgin mangrove area, wetland and rainforest habitats.

After checking in and enjoying your afternoon refreshment, you will go on a river cruise in search of some of the 10 primate species.

Sukau is home to the famous Bornean pygmy elephants, orang utans, proboscis monkeys and all eight species of hornbills in Borneo.

Return for solar heated hot shower, candle-lit dinner overlooking the riverbanks, followed by slideshow presentation and nature interpretation by a naturalist guide.

Overnight stay at Sukau Rainforest Lodge, which in 2015 was awarded by National Geographic to be one of the most Unique Lodges in the World.

Day 6
Sukau – Kinabatangan River

Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills and hot Sabah tea!

At 6.00am, you will go on a morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, proceed to have an educational tour at our own in-house Hornbill Boardwalk, located behind the lodge with our in-house naturalist.

In the afternoon, you will proceed to have another river cruise for more wildlife sighting. Overnight stay at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Day 7
Sukau – Danum Valley

Today, your journey begins with an overland transfer to Lahad Datu.

After lunch, you will go on a 70 kilometer journey on gravelled road to Danum Valley. The area covers a sprawling 438-square kilometer undisturbed area of lowland dipterocarp rainforest in Sabah.

Have your first introduction of the forest in the afternoon through the Nature Trails and explore the 300-meter treetop Canopy Walkway for a close-up observation of the rainforest.

Danum Valley is home to many species of Borneo’s unique lowland fauna, such as the Clouded Leopards, Sumatran Rhinoceros, Pygmy Elephants and Orangutans.

After dinner, proceed to have a night drive in an open-top vehicle in search of nocturnal animals. Overnight stay at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

Day 8
Borneo Rainforest Lodge - Danum Valley

Spend the whole day exploring the rainforest for more chances of spotting birds and mammals.

Trek to the ancient Kadazandusun burial site aka the Coffin Cliff, before continue trekking to the viewing point, for a bird’s eye view of the valley.

Take your time to catch your breath and relax before descending to the Jacuzzi Pool for a refreshing dip in the rock pools, before returning to the lodge for lunch.

You can go for another jungle trekking session in the afternoon or you can opt to go tubing down the Danum River.

After dinner, enjoy a night walk for more wildlife watching experience. Overnight stay at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

Day 9
Shangri La’s Rasa Ria Resort
